Aquatica

One of the joys of art is that you can create anything, be it real, realistic, or pure fantasy. Of all the humanoid creatures that have been conjured, people of the sea seem to have an unusual foothold in the collective imagination.

That's right, we're talking mermaids.

One of the reasons I personally hold a fascination with them is their versatility. They are neither entirely human nor animal, instead falling anywhere between. Otherworldly yet familiar, the possibilities are endless, and much fun is to be had drawing comparisons and contrasts with more land-based people. From a technical point of view, there is also the exciting challenge presented by an aquatic environment.
